Team GEP Directors
Mission Statement
To create a post-collegiate endurance racing team in Gunnison, Colorado that will achieve superior endurance ability and racing success in trail running, mountain biking, and adventure running (speed record attempts on well known, national trails) through a holistic, multi-disciplinary team approach to training by utilizing altitude at or above 7700 feet, dietetics, massage therapy, physical therapy, sport psychology, sport physiology, and consistent racing. Additionally, this holistic team approach will be education-based with support from Western State College of Colorado (WSC) via Exercise & Sport Science (ESS) student-centered sport physiology testing and GEP athlete-driven training and racing events that promote healthy, active, outdoor lifestyles.
Target Events
- Championship trail races - marathon distance and under (e.g. Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon, Vail Uphill Trail Race, Mt. Washington Road Race, World Mountain Running Championships, Off-Road X-terra Trail Running Events, etc.)
- Ultra-marathons - 50k distance and over (e.g. Leadville 100 Mile, Western States 100 Mile, Hardrock 100 Mile, Miwok 100km, Wasatch 100 Mile, Mt. Masochist 100 Mile, White River 50 Mile, The North Face Endurance Challenge, Montrail Ultra Cup, La Sportiva Mountain Cup, etc.)
- Adventure Running – attempt speed records on various national and local trails (e.g. Colorado Trail (~ 500 miles), Wonderland Trail in Mt. Rainier Nat’l Park (~ 95 miles), Rim to Rim to Rim or R2R2R in the Grand Canyon (~ 42 miles), etc.)
- Travel domestically and internationally to marquee events
