Gold Rush Part. 1
- George Machovec - Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries, non-profit consortium of 12 Academic Libraries, founded in 1974. Runs Prospector Union Catalog and Gold Rush.
- Gold Rush has four parts:
- Electronic Resource Management
- OpenURL Link resolver
- Journal Finder (A-Z)
- Journal Comparer
- Gold Rush does not replace integrated ILL/OPEC or federated searching
- Knowledge base
- All metadata is directly from providers. Constantly updating.
- Can upload, modify, add/delete title lists.
- Subscriptions
- Track life cycle of subscriptions
- Manage subscritpions
- Gold Rush - Incident tracker
- Report problems for any service
- Public message for any problems
- Why Gold Rush
- Non-profit, much less expensive
- Requires no technical expertise
- Mesa State College and CMC use the service
- In discussion with Marmot consortium office about making Gold Rush available to all Marmot members
Gold Rush Part. 2
- Rose Nelson - System Librarians
- Gold Rush Staff Tool-box - set-up databases, change user interface, set-up Open URL
- Reports - Compare content between databases.
- Reports - Holding analysis, overview, can include print holdings.
- Reports - Report usage, also show link-through statistics as well as search display.
- Reports - User location report, tracks by domain.
- Can add 4,000 open access journals into holdings.
- Can add title to a title list
Marmot Open Forum
- Millennium Functionality - Release 2007 has print templates, hold slips, transit slips, barcodes, spine labels, coming along. Save output as PDF format. Functionally coming to Marmot, another month or so for printing.
- Task Forces update, Release 2007 has new OPAC functionality, OPAC task force will get to work on the changes. Circulation task force will meet in September.
- Statewide ILL - Jim Duncan from State Library formed task force to look at a Open Source ILL (Evergreen or Koha) have first draft of white paper, 14 days will be revised and released. Possible look at commercial ILL as well. 2-3 year discussion and implementation of new system.
- WebFeat Implementation - Serial Solutions and WebFeat merging, problems with engineering after purchasing WebFeat in May. Marmot is not standard, requires WebFeat custom programming for Marmot. Authentication currently fixed,
- OCLC Direct Export - Batch upload, III provides option to directly upload from Marmot, MSC testing direct upload. Records will show up immediately and not the next day as current practice. Likley requires change to OCLC profile.
