Wiki assignment A wiki is a type of collaborative web environment that allows users to easily contribute content. Wikipedia, is the most widely know wiki contains articles on over 1,800,000 topics. Wikis are gaining acceptance within corporations and other organizations as a way to document organizational knowledge. The Savage Library has an external wiki located at http://wiki.western.edu/library/ and an internal wiki located at http://wiki.western.edu/libdoc/. Adding content to a wiki requires some special formatting rules, here is a link to PDF Wiki reference card.

  1. Create a login for the Savage Library (if you haven’t already done so) wiki here
  2. After creating a login, find and click on your name on the main page of the wiki. Add your contact information and schedule and save the page. See other staff’s wiki pages for an example. If you already have a page, add additional content.
  3. Create a secondary article and link from your page. You’ll notice across the top that one of the tab’s is a history tab. Click on this tab to see a history of this page.
  4. E-mail Jeremy the hyper-links to both pages, he’ll be able to see that you edited the page from its history and you’ll receive credit for this course.
