Homework 2: Slashdot Presentation
- Assigned: August 28
- Due: As scheduled
- Points: 20
Make a presentation to the class on a current event in the computing world. This presentation should last 15 minutes.
See the class presentation format for details on what you need to do.
- Take the article from Slashdot or some other place where technical articles get extensive user comments.
- Make a poster containing the title of the article, a brief summary, an appropriate graphic element, and three comments submitted by readers. If this is an issue with more that one point of view, try to represent different viewpoints in your comments. One of these should be humorous. You may trim down the comments if needed.
- Create a short powerpoint slide deck for your presentation.
- Create a wiki page containing your summary, powerpoint slides (5 should be enough), your poster (as a ppt file), a link to the original source article, a link to the forum in which the comments appear (if different), and direct links to the three comments you want to highlight, and a discussion question to end your presentation with.
Make sure you get your materials approved in advance. Make sure that I approve of your article before you create the supporting materials.
Students in the audience will have read the source article so you don't need to spend much time covering material that is in the original reading.
