Hiking and Backpacking

The Gunnison Area is surrounded by public lands containing numerous Wilderness Areas. Trailheads can be found in all directions from Gunnison. Amongst the most popular destinations are Mill Creek and Swampy Pass in the Ohio Creek Valley, Oh Be Joyful Creek in the Slate River Valley and Judd Falls/Copper Lake Trail near the Rocky Mountain Biological Labratory near Gothic.
