Escalante Canyon
From WP Wiki
Escalante Canyon is a sandstone climbing area somewhat similar to Indian Creek. It is located about 2 hours west of campus and is low enough to afford warm climbing when Gunnison is still in a deep freeze.
Climbers in Escalante are faced with cracks of all sizes. One the most unusual areas there is a cave where the climbs are inside the rock rather than the outside.
Climbs in Escalante are not accessable from the top - you need to be able to lead to get to the anchors. Climbs are fairly short - usually 50 - 100 feet.
