This Program is ongoing every other Tuesday night at 7 PM in the WSC pool. Free Kayak roll sessions are offered on the alternate Tuesday nights. Gear and instruction is provided by WP.

In Fall 2006 and Spring 2007, the Rec department sponsored a series of kayak polo games during the kayak pool session in the campus pool. WP pitched in a paddling gear for those that didn't have their own and overall Kayak Polo was a huge success.

Spring 2007 Schedule:

  • March 20: Polo
  • March 27: Roll Practice
  • April 3: Polo
  • April 10: Roll Practice
  • April 17: Polo
  • April 24: Roll Practice
  • May 1: Polo

Kayak polo is a great way to learn paddling skills and get the most out of flat water practice for real rivers. Games were played 6 on 6 and players ranged from total beginners to expert boaters. Rules are simple: you can't keep the ball more than 5 seconds and you can't interfere with the goalie. Whenever anyone who couldn't roll tipped over, the game was suspended for a bow rescue. There were few swims among the beginners.
