My name is Matt Dodson and I am a senior in the OLRM department. I've lived in Crested Butte for the past two years for the same reasons everyone lives there; skiing, cyclnig, climbing, and Elk Ave. I got into backcountry skiing during the 06-07 ski season because of the lean snow year at the ski area. The problem I ran into was that there was no tangible information out there about the Crested Butte/Monarch backcountry, so finding fun and easily accessible terrain was a huge issue. I basically spent all of that first season wondering around. That's how this sight came to be. The areas documented here are some of our favorites. Feel free to add new areas, or more info about the ones that already exhist here. Safe travels...
