About the Sage Burner 25K/50K

2008 will mark the inagural Sage Burner trail races at Hartman Rocks in Gunnison, Colorado. The course is on moslty runnable single track trails traversing, climbing and descending through the rock formations and "seas of sage" that are a Hartman Rocks trademark. Our goal is to provide a high quality race course and excellent finisher awards. In addition, proceeds from the Sage Burner will go to support the Western State College High Altitude Perfomance Lab (HAP Lab), Western State College Club Sports programs and Gunnison Trails Association (a non-profit organization).
Course Description
The exact course alignment is still in progress, however we will strive to make a stand alone 50K (31 Mile) course using as much single track trail as possible. The 25K (15.5 Mile) course will be a shortend version of the 50K. All races will start and finish at the Hartman Rocks base area located about 3.5 miles from downtown Gunnison.
Directions to Hartman Rocks Recreation Area and the race start in Gunnison, Colorado- Hartman Rocks Recreation Area (race start at lower parking lot):
- Approximately 3.5 miles from Downtown Gunnison - drive time about 5 minutes
- Head West on Hwy 50 from downtown Gunnison and turn left on Gold Basin Road (follow the Brown signs)
- Turn right into the base area for Hartman Rocks Recreation Area (at the big Hartman Rocks sign)

Registration
There are two ways to register for the Sage Burner. You can download a registration form from this website, print the form and send back with a check, or you can register online for a small fee. (online registration still under development; check back soon to this website.)
